Lullaby of the Tides

A global project to celebrate 20 years of Rainmaker

  • Synopsis

Lullaby of the Tides is a song cycle and part of a global, multi-media project to celebrate 20 years of Jan and Nigel Stroud’s musical, Rainmaker. It’s especially suitable for large-scale concerts, where several organisations and wide age-groups band together for a joint performance. In addition to the big cast and choir numbers, there are opportunities for talented soloists and dancers.

I am not surprised that 'Rainmaker' has gone down so well in schools as the songs are both fun and accessible.

Testimonials

  • I cannot recommend Rainmaker more highly. Our parents were captivated and mesmerised with the extraordinary blend of exotic dances, scintillating costumes and a show that provided a phenomenal opportunity to have huge numbers performing vibrant and memorable scenes. Whether you want to build extravagant sets for extraordinary costumes or instead put on a simplified large-cast play with minimum budget, the playwright has cleverly produced an inspiring musical that accommodates and caters for both visions!

  • Your writing and your efforts have profoundly touched the lives of 54 sixth graders and their families. You gave us the vehicle to transport them to another time and place. We pushed them and they grew into more than we dreamed possible. The audience gave them a standing ovation. You have had such an impact on our kids, your words really made us shine in so many ways....

  • The whole process was thoroughly enjoyable and the children loved the production. I still hear them singing ‘Wired for Sound’ in the corridors!! They want to perform it as their graduation song at the end of this year! The children were thoroughly exhausted at the end of it but they now know so much more about the process of a musical and it was great to watch them grow throughout the rehearsals. Many of the students now say that they wish to take drama classes as a result of doing Rainmaker which is really what it’s all about – helping them discover their gifts and talents. Thank you once again for such a great experience.

  • The comments from parents were very positive about the singing, dancing and spirituality of the musical. A card I received sums it up: ‘I thought Rainmaker was wonderful – a beautiful choice of production with messages throughout, topped off with the children singing and dancing their hearts out. The whole thing brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for putting on such a marvellous show
